Dodge Ball to the Death!

- What was the sport originally played with and to what extent was the sport played to (how lethal?) Dodgeball originally played in Africa two hundred years ago, but instead of the fun game, it was deadly. Instead of rubber dodgeball's, they used rocks or other harmful materials to try and hit the other team with, and once a player was hit they had to stand there and then their teammates would have to protect that person from the rocks. 

Dr James H. Carlisle

- Who was the main missionary that started Dodgeball in Europe - Dr James H. Carlisle? Include the school he was at, his birth date, what he changed about the game and any extra information. 
Dr James H. Carlisle was a missionary in Africa and saw the ruthless game being played and was intrigued by the agility and heartless of the tribal men, and the heart and unity they were also showing. On his way back to England he showed his pupils, but as they tried what Carlisle said they just didn't have agility or accuracy to trow or dodge, and Carlisle couldn't encourage the people to continue to play. It was only when he returned back to teaching at St. Mary's College in Norfolk that he was able to turn the game less vicious into what it now is.

In 1884 St. Mary's College welcomed a number of colleagues from Yale University and among them was Phillip Ferguson. Phillip Ferguson is said to be the one who introduced dodgeball to America and popularising the sport. Ferguson changed it from an open field to a set area with the two teams on one side each. In 1905 is when the first official rules like, players, coming back in after someone caught it and being out when hit. 

What is your favourite thing about dodgeball and why? 
My favourite thing about dodgeball is getting people out because it's fun.

Hi! My name is Mackenzie i am currently at the old age of 15. I'm the youngest of three children, and during school holidays I travel down to Port Waikato to spend time with my nana, aunt, uncle, and two younger cousins. Some of my hobbies are drawing, netball, listening to music, watching movies, and reading Harry Potter. During the summer time my family goes see Speedway in Western Springs.
